The first official flag of the was The Stars and Bars, which was flown from 1861, to May 1863.
The second national flag of the Confederacy was The Stainless Banner, which was put into service on May 1, 1863.
1863 Ensign - The Secretary of Navy, Stephen Mallory, issued regulations on May 26, 1863 which modified the Second National Flag for shipboard use
Third National Flag - adopted March 4, 1865, very shortly before the fall of the Confederacy.
The Battle Flag - proved so popular that it became basis for the Second National flag of the Confederacy.
